Le Mandrie di San Paolo is more then a farm house, it is a story of life, a return to the authentic. The project engaged a whole family and consists of many elements (tangible and intangible)... such as:
Le Mandrie di San Paolo was built in the eleventh century for the abbey of Saint Benedict in order to control its agricultural land.
After the unification of Italy it became property of local families. It was abandoned in the 60s.
In 2000 became part of our family farm which started a long reconstruction with was completed only in 2010. A long reconstruction to reconvert Le Mandrie in a farm house with restaurant, SPA and swimmingpool.
> Stay at Le Mandrie
The Swimming Pool
The unique feature of our
swimming pool is the Assisi and the Umbrian valley whole panorama.
We add heating water (pool season goes from April to October), a
jacuzzi inside the pool and a poolside bar/barbecue where you can relax with a drink.
The Olive Yards
Le Mandrie di San Paolo was born amid the olive trees and it lives for it. Our plants are as old as the history of the olive oil in Italy. We produce an
organic extra-virgin olive oil made from our very own olive trees respecting the traditions and with a touch of passion, necessary to assure the maximum quality of our product.
We hope (and we are pretty sure) that Le Mandrie di San Paolo olive oil will be one of the best product you have had never tried.
The Olive Mill
We have renovated the old family stable in a technological
cold extraction mill in order to control all stages of oil production and to be a benchmark for quality in the Region of Umbria.
The Herds
We have chickens, rabbits, turkeys, sheeps and goats: in our own way w
e continue the tradition of sheep farming in the hills of Assisi.
The Truffle and Forest
The farm owns acres of oak woods and black truffle trees.
Legume/Grain/Hay
We produce legumes, especially lentils of Castelluccio seed, grain and hay for our herd of sheeps.
Clean Energy
Le Mandrie has a green heart: we produce clean energy by solar panel plant and we use the pruning wood to heat the farm house.
And other projects...
Barter project: We have the project to exchange work for accommodation.
BIO project – All the farm is organic. We also started the project to produce not contaminated flour for our breakfast cakes, biscuits and pasta.
Sharing ideas. Le Mandrie is a "shell of ideas". We are open to anyone who wants to organize with us literary, musical or artistic ideas related to our traditions.
Preservation of handcrafts: all our reconstruction has been MADE by local artisans.
